IAOT Permanent Expert Group for Energy Efficiency Holds Its First Teleconference Meeting

On 16 April 2020, the Permanent Expert Group for Energy Efficiency of the International Association of Oil Transporters held its 11th meeting chaired by the Group’s Leader, Director General of the PTI, LLC, Yakov Fridlyand.

For the first time ever, the meeting was held as a video conference connecting offices of IAOT pipeline companies and experts working from home.

Senior executives from MERO ČR, Transneft, Transpetrol, MOL, Gomeltransneft Druzhba, KazTransOil, CNPC, Ukrtransnafta, Caspian Pipeline Consortium and JANAF joined the conference to discuss the results of energy efficiency benchmarking calculations of IAOT members in 2019, performed by experts of the PTI’s Data Processing Center, the general contractor working under the Method of Energy Efficiency Benchmarking of Oil Transport Facilities.

The participants also discussed and supported the PTI’s proposal on updating the Method as regards introduction of the process section efficiency factor in order to extend the range of criteria applied for comparison of operating indicators of IAOT companies.

Besides, the participants exchanged experience in transportation of crude oil via pipelines using the in-line blending.
